Melasma is a skin condition that presents itself on the skin, in particular the face, as gray/brown spots or patches. It is also known as the “mask of pregnancy.” It is not a harmful condition, but it can affect a person’s cosmetic appearance and self esteem. It is more common in women and can be associated with pregnancy, taking oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, and excessive sun exposure. If you are concerned about the discoloration of your skin, contact our specialists for further evaluation and treatment.
